32nd Annual

Macon Labor Day Road Race

"The Classic Race of Middle Georgia"

The annual Labor Day Road Race is a family-friendly Macon tradition.  Both the 5K and 10K races feature a fast, point-to-point course that finish with a run through downtown Macon and into Central City Park where cheering fans, fun, and fellowship await you.  Run the 10K to get a good qualifier for next year's Peachtree.   Participants receive technical fabric wicking shirts, with women's cut shirts for the ladies.  For even more fun, enter one of the team competitions!

Stay tuned for more details regarding Labor Day 2008, to be held September 1st.

Course Description:  The courses overlap.  The 10-K race begins ½ mile east of Wesleyan College, following Forsyth Road as it turns into Vineville Avenue.  At the 3.1 mile mark, the 5-K begins, close to the intersections of Vineville, Pio Nono, and Pierce Avenues, in front of the Vineville Baptist Church.  Both races proceed across I-75, where the road changes names to Forsyth Street, then Cotton Avenue.  This road will turn sharply right and left as you pass City Hall, continuing to Second Street where you will turn left.  You turn right onto Walnut Street, left onto Seventh Street, and right into Central City Park.  Major hills are located at the ½ mile mark of the 10-K and the 4.5 mile mark of the 10-K (1.2 mile mark of the 5-K).  Otherwise, the course is relatively flat or downhill except for a few small inclines.
