Home baked treats, free race photos, fabulous door prizes, great organization, friendly faces, a worthy cause, a nice out-and-back course - need I say more? Lance Merritt and the folks at Mt. Zion Church put their all into this race and it shows. Macon Tracks members get $1 off the entry fee if you pre-register. Race application to follow.

Looking for company on your long runs? Sundays at 7:15 a.m., the triangle is the place to be. Go northwest on Forsyth, cross Bass Road, and turn right on Old Forsyth (just past Howard Middle School). Park on the “triangle” just before the railroad tracks. The full loop is 12 miles, with water stops at 4.5 & 9 miles. Often people will run to the first water stop and back for a total of 9 miles, or take the shortcut back along a dirt road for a total of 7.5 miles. There is a wide range of paces, so you'll be in good company no matter how fast or slow you're feeling that morning. This is a great time to catch up with old friends and make new ones, get or give running advice to your comrades, and improve your endurance at the same time. Start running the loop, and, before long, you'll be ready to run a marathon!

Put some classical music on your iPod and enjoy a run through the pastoral Ocmulgee National Monument. This race benefits the Macon Symphony Orchestra, and will be on pavement, not on the trails. It's both a Run & See Georgia Grand Prix and a Macon Tracks Piedmont Sports Medicine Series race. There will be a special treat for moms on this Mother's Day weekend.

The Coliseum Health System's Rock 'N RollMan moves into its fifth year in 2008. After four very successful events, this year's Rock 'N RollMan should rock harder than ever before. This event has quickly become one of the nation's best at this distance and has earned several national distinctions from USA Triathlon. The 2008 edition will again be part of the USAT Half Championship; it will also offer qualifying slots for the ITU Long Course World Championships. The 2008 edition will offer an Aquabike Division for those wishing to race but not interested in battling the half marathon. Other distance events such as a sprint distance triathlon and long course duathlon make for a endurance filled weekend anyone can enjoy.
